Our aim is to develop a platform upon which friendships and mutual trust can be built, ensuring clients enjoy dignity and independence whilst constantly monitoring and assessing individual care needs. Based on this philosophy, we guarantee to provide you with the best possible service, which we believe you and all of our clients deserve.
Who we can help
Whatever level of home care you require, HomeLife Carers can deliver a service tailored to your needs. Those we are able to offer care to include:
- Older people
- People with memory impairment/mental health problems
- People with learning and/or physical disabilities
- People with a life-threatening or terminal illness
- People who are ill (other than terminal illness)
- People recovering from illness or hospital treatment
If you have needs that don’t fit into these categories, or have more specialised requirements, we can assign a carer who has the right training and qualifications to deliver the necessary level of care. Please contact us to learn more.
All our home carers are trained to provide essential care services, whatever your individual needs. These services include help getting up in the morning/going to bed at night, washing, dressing, toileting and bed-making. Carers are also able to assist with the taking of medicine prescribed by your doctor, though this is subject to certain restrictions which will be explained to you.
Certain light domestic chores including vacuum cleaning, dusting and general cleaning, washing up and personal laundry are also services we can offer. Subject to certain restrictions it may also be possible for carers to assist with light gardening duties.
Meal preparation is another key part of the care we offer. We can help make any meal throughout the day as well as any additional refreshments. If requested, care assistants will sit with you while you eat your meals as part of our aim to deliver a friendly service and companionship to our clients.
In addition to the domestic tasks, our carers can provide it is also possible for more personal duties to be undertaken. These might include doing shopping for you, collecting your pension (only with specific permission) and assisting with matters such as birthdays and anniversaries.
We also offer a Night Care Service for overnight needs. This is separated into two bands of care:
- Awake: For those who require constant attention. A carer will be awake and ready to help throughout the night.
- Sleeping: For those who simply do not wish to be alone at night; a bed should be provided as the carer will expect to sleep.
As you can see our expertise is extensive and the positive feedback we’ve received from our clients speaks for itself. We are able to take on contracts for short or long-term home care and can be there as long as you need. We look forward hearing from you and providing you with a service tailored to your individual needs.

Feedback is an essential part of improving our service, letting us know not only what we could be doing better but also what we have been doing right. Below is just a small selection of the positive feedback we have received over the years:
“I am writing on behalf of the family of Mrs M. D. to thank all the team for the devoted care which you gave Mum while you were looking after her. The support she received was excellent and enabled her to remain in her own home for over a year. She always felt secure knowing that help was coming in on a regular basis and enjoyed the friendship and companionship you all gave her. Everyone treated her with such kindness, she is always very complimentary and appreciative about the dedicated care she was receiving which meant so much to her. We as a family are very grateful to you all. Thank you.”
“I just wanted to write you all a quick note to say a big thank you for all your help, support and understanding in your first year of caring for Mum.”
“I would like to pass on a huge thank you, from M and me, to you and the team at Torrington, and of course all those wonderful ladies at Chumleigh, that have cared for Mum since January 2010. You are a fantastic team and we really are truly grateful and appreciative for all you have done.”
“I would like say a big thank you to you and the team. A is really well cared for. Your team were wonderful.”
“To all of you a very, very sincere thank you for the wonderful care you not only gave to R, but to me and the family. Working as a team you helped to share with us, and help us through R’s illness.”
“Just a little note to say thank you for letting Sheila and Hilary come as my carers more times this week. I do appreciate it as they are my friends and it’s good to look forward to their visits. I am happy to be at home and having kind natured carers means a lot to me.”
“I would like to thank you and your team at HomeLife and all involved in the care of my husband over the last few months. Your kindness, understanding and attention to detail was a great support – the carers I am proud to say became friends and I know J greatly appreciates all they do for him during this difficult period. Indeed it would be more difficult to find a more kindly and compassionate team anywhere.”
“We would like to let you know how wonderful your care team have been during the last few months with our grandparents R and P. B. They have made lives a lot easier with their kindness and care.”
“Just a quick note to say many thanks to you and all your staff. You run an efficient caring service with a common sense approach. You all have made my life a lot easier by having a ‘can do’ attitude towards my mother.”
“Just a note to thank you for the wonderful care of Dad over the last couple of years. Your support as a team, and as individuals within a team, is very, very special. I know Mum feels very grateful for the friendship extended to her over the years, as do I. You are special ladies.”
“I would like to give a huge ‘thanks’ to your organisation for sending two carers to look after my mum. This was the first time my parents have been away from home on holiday for six years due to my mum’s ill health and it was a huge event for them. They enjoyed it enormously, but it wouldn’t have been possible without help from carers.
The two carers who helped mum were kind and caring and my parents were full of praise for them so thank you again very much.”
HomeLife Carers is proud to be a Devon Cares Tier 1 provider for the whole of Northern and Mid Devon.
Devon Cares is a completely new approach to home care, which brings providers together and gives us the backing of the local NHS trust (Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust).
Joining the service means we will be working in collaboration with the NHS and other providers to solve quality and capacity issues in the local home care market. It also means we have the NHS stamp of approval and will benefit from their support and quality assurance processes.
Through this contract, our care workers and other staff will benefit from better working conditions, including pay in line with the living wage and paid travel expenses. They will also have more opportunities for training and a clearer caring career path through our links with the NHS.
We hope having more incentivised staff will boost recruitment and retention, and that it will give us greater certainty as a provider, so we can plan for the future.
We feel sure that all of this will result in a better service for our clients.
